Electrical Fixtures in Mooresville & Lake Norman, NC
Our crew handles electrical fixture work that doesn't require a licensed electrician — ceiling fan installs, light fixture swaps, dimmer switches, outlet and switch plate replacements, and under-cabinet lighting. If it's a fixture-for-fixture replacement on an existing circuit, we've got it. If it needs new wiring run or panel work, we'll connect you with a licensed electrician from our network.

What's included in your plan
Electrical fixture work is included in all subscription plans. Most fixture swaps take 30-90 minutes depending on complexity. Ceiling fans are the most time-intensive at 1-2 hours for a standard install. We batch electrical tasks when possible — if you have three light fixtures and a ceiling fan, we'll knock them all out in one visit.
What it costs
Electrical fixture labor is included in your subscription. Fixtures, switches, outlets, and other electrical components are billed at cost plus 15% or can be purchased by the homeowner in advance.
Questions we get about electrical fixtures
Can a handyman install a ceiling fan in North Carolina?
Yes. In North Carolina, a handyman can replace an existing light fixture with a ceiling fan if the electrical box is already rated for fan weight and there's existing wiring. If a new circuit or electrical box upgrade is needed, that requires a licensed electrician. We assess the existing setup before starting and will let you know if an electrician is needed.
How long does ceiling fan installation take?
A standard ceiling fan replacement (removing an old fixture, assembling and mounting the new fan) takes 1-2 hours. If the existing electrical box needs reinforcement for the fan weight, add 30-60 minutes. First-floor standard ceilings are straightforward; vaulted ceilings or two-story foyers may require additional time.
Can you install dimmer switches?
Yes. Standard dimmer switch installation takes 15-30 minutes per switch. We install single-pole, 3-way, and smart dimmers. We'll confirm your existing bulbs are dimmable and recommend compatible dimmers if needed.
What electrical work requires a licensed electrician?
In North Carolina, work that involves running new wire, adding new circuits, upgrading electrical panels, or modifying the electrical service requires a licensed electrician. Fixture-for-fixture replacements on existing circuits are handyman-appropriate work. We maintain relationships with reliable licensed electricians in the Lake Norman area and can coordinate referrals.
How much does it cost to install a ceiling fan?
With a Lake Norman Handyman subscription, ceiling fan installation labor is included. You pay only for the fan itself and any mounting hardware — we can source it or you can purchase your own. Standalone ceiling fan installation in the Charlotte area typically costs $150-$350 per fan for labor alone.
